Personaliy Vs Lifestyle

We were asked what is the difference between lifestyle and personality. They are two different things that can be easily misunderstood and up till now i don't know weather i can differentiate between them or not.
but for me a lifestyle is a way of living and people judge in large numbers based on lifestyles. they can be considered to be from the different lifestyle group but they can have a different personality.
so personality for me means individuality a way how a person thinks and reacts.

The Begining P2

The first step find things to Photograph, that is the first task we had to do so while discussing the breif in class i felt that every one was feeling confused some how. But as soon as the categories taht was given to us i felt i sense of releif so we had 5 common categories which are:
Food
Phones
Clothes
Furniture
Cars
and they can be anything that i can think of when taking pictures of these categories but adding to that we had to add 5 more categories and for me i wanted to think of things the other students wont think of of so i tried and the 5 i came up with are :
Mugs
Rings
Necklaces
Shoe soles
Scarfs
but i was not very successful with the choice of diversity in those choices but i thought that the shoe soles was the best one out of these 5.
It was quiet challenging to go around to take pictures especially in the malls but i tried to get the best out of those photos and experience.

combining our categories and homework

Our group:
Sara Q
maria
me

We had a few ideas about how to combine our categories:

- human to manufactured
-distance from the body

-basic to additional

we decided to go with the last idea i.e. which was to map our images from most basic to most unnecessary.

This is the order in which we placed them:
Body - Eyes
Food - Bread
Beverages
Fruits & Vegetables

Ice Cream
Clothing - Underwear

Bottoms
Tops
Shoes
Shoe soles
Furniture - Floors

Lighting
Seating
Tables
Door handles
Mugs
Cars - Back of cars
Car accessories

Drag Racing Cars
Phones - Mobile phones
Mobile screens
Sides of phones

Accessories - Belts
Rings
Scarfs
Necklaces
Piercings
Tattoos

The way in which we navigated our viewer was with string. Since we mapped out this system with levels of accessories:

Primary
Secondary
Tertiary
We used 3 gradients of blue (neutral) string... (well until the middle gradient ran out)

The following are pictures of the final product.

homework: what is the difference between lifestyle and personality? are there any overlaps? Are they related to each other? upload all photos onto flickr group...one by one. print 21 copies of my thumbnails 5 lifestyles...create categories by using every one's photos. number of images per lifestyle is optional. map it in a linear way. am i going to use stereotypes or not?
give the lifestyle a name

Final

i still had problems with my system because of gaps and the distances between the countries its harder for the reader to see it. for the final i decrease the spaces of the countries and made them all equal and i lined the Davis cup tournament because its different than the rest. it was very hard and i bumped into a lot of walls but looking at the final now i am very happy and satisfied.

process c

so i tried to solve the problem of the weeks by actually counting and putting the average and then just make the rectangles in sectors but that also be came to complex and i could not figure out what to do i felt like hit another wall so i just tried to extend them, so instead of January having 4 weeks it got five weeks.
and that is how it look like but i still had the problem of having whit spaces which look out of place and this was all because i could not find a solution to the problem of the weeks. and the colors i used the red to show that these are the most important tournaments and they are the grand slams, and the gradient of the red is the masters tournament which are the second best tournaments and the gray ones are the Davis cup which is a team based tournament and it takes place through the progression of the year.
i also search the longitudes of the countries because we cant use type so i will be using the longitude to represent the countries

process b

i created a simpler calendar that includes numbers. What i did was i put the months on the top so that the viewer would know what they are reading, but the first thing i did was divide the months in to weeks, beacuse in the tennis season is divided by weeks and i used that to my advantage so this i the first sketch i did.basically its divided in to weeks and by place. and so i blacked the week where the tournaments which take place, on the y axes i have the longitudes of the countries . As you can see there are white spaces and that is where i got confused and i ran into a wall.
one problem i encountered was when doing the weeks, there are some months with 4 weeks another with 3 weeks so when creating the calender i would get spaces.

process color

I started to think of ways of how to create my calendar and how will it look like by the end. i started to think of how am i going to represent the variables with out using any representations or type. and for me it is a very hard limitation, but i thought of it as an advantage to minimize the confusion and increasing my learning curve.
the first sketch i did for the calendar was this.
but some how it too complex and i did not know where to try and start and before like it so much i threw this idea and tried to choose another way which is much more systematic and much more understandable, because my topic is really complex, so i don't want to confuse my audience.

P1.1 Comprehensive sketches/a

My calendar is about the ATP world tennis tour. So the first step I did was look for the schedule of the 2009 season for tennis, and try to analyze it in order for me to get the right information.
Basically what I did is I looked at what the information I can take from it and de-construct it to see what is the variables I need for this calendar.
I looked at the colors because the variation in the colors symbolizes the importance of the tournaments. Then I looked at the countries as well as the week because the tennis season is divided into weeks rather than days or months. So I thought that this would be one important variable that I can use in the calendar.

So basically the variables that I am going to use are :
• Weeks
• Months
• Colors
• Rectangles

The start

A calendar I really though that it’s a very unique project, because we are limited to only use numbers and abstract shapes, at first it was very hard to come up with a concept. And I think that I was trying really hard to think of a concept leaving this idea of functionality as well as systems, and that is where I though that I got stuck.
Discussing some possible topics with the other students still got me confuse with what I am trying to do.
So we came up with a lot of ideas like: age, trees, academic and so on. But for me I was still lost so what we then did was try to find who will e the audience maybe it will be easier to find the solution. But again for me I was still confused and lost.
After all this I started to think about types of calendars, and then I though of the ATP (The Association of Tennis Professionals) Tennis World Tour. Because the tennis season takes the whole year so I thought of doing a calendar for the tennis tour.
With that idea in mind I had to think of the things about the tennis tour which I can use in the calendar.
The variables that I was considering:
• Date
• Place
• Level
• Surface
Then I started to think of ideas of how I can represent those ideas for example with lines and color. But before w had to start with black and white so that we can get used to the negative and positive areas, and then as we progress we can use color.
I am aiming to learn more about system and how they work.
