4 a
: distinction or excellence of personal and social traits ; also : a person having such quality b: a person of importance, prominence, renown, or notoriety personality>

it looks as though there are a few definitions, but number 3 (in bold) seems most applicable. now let's do the same for the word lifestyle...

life·style: noun

The typical way of life of an individual, group, or culture
The consistent, integrated way of life of an individual as typified by his or her manner, attitudes, possessions, etc.

So from what I understand, personality is the traits of a human being, but the way they manifest their traits defines their lifestyle.
However, lifestyle is not always to do with choice. a person may have a particular lifestyle due to a disability, economic reasons, family problems, health factors, the government that rules their country, and cultural issues. So, it is quite an understatement to say that a person's lifestyle is in their control.

Also, personality is inherited and shaped by upbringing and experience. A car accident or other traumatic experience can totally change some one's personality just as falling in love or being friends with a particular group of people can.

Also, personality influences a lifestyle and vice versa.

it seems as though nothing is black and white!

  1. I totally agree with you; personality is shaped/ polished/ and molded by the way we live our lives; the way we grow up.

And lifestyle is somewhat an accommodation to whatever suits/ fits our personality.

However there are lots of exceptions since there's no black and white like you said.

    Interesting research, Angela.
