Project Brief

The second project started off with the idea of limitations and open-ended creativity. We were told that we could decide on a concept to portray in a visual catalog. This freedom to develop our own concept and limitations was kind of intimidating at first. To launch the project we were told to start with the general theme of diverse lifestyles and to document them through artifacts used in every day life. These five artifacts were cars, clothing, food, phones and furniture. The purpose was to document the diverse uses of these artifacts within the community of Doha. To start this task, I began to observe the people around me more carefully. I observed the various uses of everyday objects and how people from different backgrounds and social statuses used these objects in their own ways. After photographing about 100 pictures I have developed a more critical eye to the small details all around us.
