Fancy some peas???
I didn't think so, but I did think that editing the visual of the calendar would make it more appealing for a mother to use. I ask myself: 'what distinguishes this calendar from one that a gynecologist would use? These are completely different target audiences, so shouldn't my visuals be different?
I know we cannot use icons or literal images but I thought of bending, stretching or twisting the rules! So...how about I use a metaphor for the pregnancy process?
Pornprapha mentioned that I have to link my information more i.e. the length and weight of the fetus should not be represented separately but as a whole. This had been said to me previously, but it only sunk in when she drew a picture of me on the whiteboard and stated that many elements come together to make a whole, which is me. Representing me in separate charts of height, weight and age would not give the viewer a full idea of me.
Point taken...finally!

So I was working on a metaphor which would hopefully allow me to use images and thought of 'bun in the oven' and lots of other cutesy connotations. I finally came to the decision of pea pods.
The expression 'peas in a pod' is common in English and denotes the fetus inside the mother's womb. I thought that dividing the pea pod into two elements; the pea and the pod to represent weight and length respectively. At least by representing them separately, the audience would automatically make the connection between them. That way I can represent separate and whole all at once!

Oh and i thought that my peas had to be Campbell's...Andy Warhol style.

The only problem is that I may be pushing the boundary of the project limitations. But taking a risk has always taught me the most, so I will go ahead with it! Here it is so far...

peas= whole information i.e. the baby
pods= height
peas= mass
bottom bar= weeks
i think it's pretty straight forward yet entirely breaking the rules :)
